Is it possible to easily contribute to national issues by copying and pasting? – Abayomi Odunowo.
As we arrived at the venue, I was shocked at the turn out of guests. It looked like a weekend, preferably a Saturday, as everybody that mattered was present. It was quite overwhelming to see the amount of influence and power present in the room. The room was filled with the laughter and chatter of important and influential people from all walks of life.
One of the things that struck me the most was the demeanor and attitude of the deputy Governor and her celebrating mother. They were incredibly warm and approachable, making it a point to greet and converse with everyone in the room. It was evident that they had a genuine interest in getting to know their guests and making them feel welcome and appreciated. Their down-to-earth nature, despite their positions of power, was truly commendable and made a lasting impression on me.
As I mingled with the guests, I had the opportunity to engage in conversations with various individuals, from politicians to business leaders and philanthropists. I even granted a television interview on the adoption of the orosanye report by the president. It was truly eye-opening to hear their perspectives on various issues and to witness the impact they were making in their respective fields. It made me realize the importance of being well-informed and actively involved in shaping the future of our society.
However, two things happened that jolted me a bit during the course of the afternoon. The first was a conversation I had with a young entrepreneur who shared his story of overcoming challenges in Nigeria and achieving success. His determination and resilience in the face of adversity were truly inspiring. It made me reflect on my own goals and aspirations, and I felt a renewed sense of motivation and drive to pursue my dreams.
The second was an encounter with a group of young activists who were advocating for social justice and equality. They spoke passionately about the need for change and the importance of standing up for what is right. Their conviction and dedication to their cause left a deep impact on me. It made me realize the power of collective action and the potential for positive change when individuals come together for a common purpose.
These experiences on that Monday afternoon opened my eyes to the vast potential for growth and progress in our Country. It made me realize the importance of being proactive and engaged in shaping a better future for ourselves and the generations to come.
Monday 4th March 2024 was a day that left a lasting impression on me. The 80th birthday party of the mother of our deputy Governor in Ogun state was an eye-opening experience that exposed me to the diverse perspectives and impactful initiatives of influential individuals in our society. It reinforced the value of being informed, engaged, and proactive in contributing to positive change. It was a day that inspired me to think bigger, aim higher, and take action towards making a meaningful difference in the world.
As a writer, it is not uncommon to receive both positive and negative feedback on your work. However, when the comments come from high-profile individuals such as the Executive Governor of Ogun State and Aremo Segun Osoba, it can be both intimidating and thought-provoking.
The fact that the Executive Governor of Ogun State made a comment on my writeUp at a party is both surprising and humbling. While I do not know the nature of the comment, I believe that even the acknowledgment of my work by someone in such a position of authority is a positive thing. It shows that my writing is being noticed and perhaps sparking discussions at the highest levels of government.
On the other hand, the fact that the governor made a derogatory statement about my writeUp in public is a cause for concern. It is understandable that not everyone will agree with or appreciate my work, but it is disheartening to receive negative comments, especially from someone I consider a brother and a friend. It raises questions about the freedom of expression and the ability to express dissenting opinions without fear of retribution.
However, when Aremo Segun Osoba also commented on my writeUp, I was eager to hear his thoughts. Unfortunately, before he could complete his statement, the governor made another derogatory statement. This sequence of events made me pause and question the state of discourse in our society. It is disheartening to see leaders engaging in public derision rather than constructive dialogue.
As I reflected on these events, I realized the importance of responsible and respectful communication, especially in a society as diverse as ours. People in positions of authority should understand that the success of any administration is a collective effort. It is not solely the responsibility of those in power, but also the duty of every citizen to contribute positively to the growth and development of our society.
Despite the challenges and criticisms, I am committed to the idea that my writing is a form of contribution to the greater good. I spend a significant amount of time thinking and writing to ensure that my words resonate with thinking individuals and contribute to meaningful discussions. It is disappointing to receive abuse from individuals who label me as a paid propagandist. Instead of engaging in constructive dialogue, they are often blinded by their biases and refuse to think objectively.
At times, it feels like an uphill battle to educate and enlighten those who are entrenched in their beliefs. However, I am steadfast in my commitment to writing with integrity and honesty. I believe that the end justifies the means, and I remain hopeful that my words will have a positive impact, even on those who vehemently disagree with me.
While the comments from the governor and others have been both positive and negative, I am reminded of the importance of free expression and the responsibility that comes with it. It is imperative for individuals in positions of authority to foster an environment where diverse opinions are welcomed and respected. As for me, I will continue to write with the hope of contributing to a more informed and enlightened society.
