As a Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has been instrumental in the development of Ogun state, propelling it into an industrial hub and creating numerous opportunities for higher education and economic growth. Through his leadership and vision, Senator Daniel has overseen the establishment of seven educational institutions of higher learning, including the Gateway Polytechnic in Sapade, the Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic in Ijebu-Igbo, and the Tai Solarin University of Education in Ijebu-Ode. These institutions have provided countless young people with access to quality education and training, empowering them to pursue successful careers and contribute to the growth of Ogun state.
In addition to his efforts in education, Senator Daniel has also played a key role in the creation of three industrial free trade zones within the state. The Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone, the Olokola Free Trade Zone, and the Gateway Industrial & Petrochemical Institute (GIPI) in Oni have all attracted foreign investment and stimulated economic growth in the region. These zones have provided opportunities for local businesses to expand and thrive, creating jobs and generating revenue for the state.
One of Senator Daniel’s most significant achievements over twelve years ago was getting all the necessary approvals for the establishment of the Agricultural Cargo International Airport, which boasts the longest runway in Nigeria. This state-of-the-art facility has revolutionized the transportation of agricultural products in Ogun state, facilitating the export of goods to international markets and boosting the agricultural sector. The airport has become a key hub for trade and commerce, attracting investment and supporting the growth of the local economy.
The decision by the immediate past government of Senator Ibikunle Amosun to abandon the airport project in Ogun State left many residents disappointed and disillusioned. However, under the leadership of Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, we have seen a renewed commitment to fulfilling this vital infrastructure project.
The Gateway International Airport, which is now being brought to life under the progressive vision of Governor Abiodun, stands as a testament to his dedication to the development of Ogun State. This project, which has been long-awaited by the residents of the state, remains one of the best achievements of the Abiodun administration in the last five years.
As we look towards the future, we are hopeful that Governor Abiodun will continue to prioritize infrastructure development, economic growth, and job creation in Ogun State. With his proven track record of leadership and commitment to progress, we are confident that there will be many more achievements to come in the next three years and beyond.
We are grateful for Governor Abiodun’s dedication to the Gateway International Airport project, and we look forward to the continued growth and development of our beloved state under his leadership.
